The second edition of the Sisi ni Dola Super Cup has officially been launched in Mombasa, bringing together 24 football teams from across the Coast region to compete for a Sh1 million grand prize.

The five-week tournament was unveiled at the Mombasa Sports Club and will feature teams from Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu counties, with Lamu making its debut in the competition.

Speaking during the launch, Dola Group Sports Director Hassan Kipapa said the tournament was created to provide young footballers with opportunities to showcase their talents before scouts, coaches and football administrators.

He noted that while the winning team will receive Sh1 million, the bigger reward is the opportunity for players to earn trials with professional clubs, scholarships and national team recognition.

"The biggest prize is not the money. The biggest prize is the opportunity to be discovered," Kipapa said.

The runners-up will receive Sh500,000, while the third and fourth-placed teams will pocket Sh250,000 and Sh100,000 respectively. Individual awards will also be presented to outstanding performers, including the Most Valuable Player, Golden Boot winner, Golden Glove winner, Best Young Player and Best Coach.

Kipapa said Dola Group remains committed to investing in youth development through sports, describing football as a tool for promoting discipline, teamwork and community empowerment.

Representing Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir, Chief Officer for Sports, Gender and Youth Juma Goshi Ali commended Dola Group for supporting grassroots football.

He said the tournament creates opportunities for talented players to be scouted by bigger clubs while also promoting social cohesion.

Goshi challenged more companies operating in Mombasa to support sports through corporate social responsibility initiatives and extend sponsorship to local football leagues.

He also highlighted ongoing county investments in sports infrastructure, including the rehabilitation and construction of Uwanja wa Mbuzi, Bomu, Ziwani and Mwahima grounds, saying the county is also planning to acquire Bilima Grounds for public use.

The tournament is expected to run for five weeks, with organizers describing it as the biggest edition since its inception. Opening match will be on Saturday where defending champions Fayaz will face Magongo FC.
