Kenya Airways (KQ) has entered into a strategic interline agreement with South African regional airline CemAir, in a move set to enhance travel connectivity across Africa.

The partnership will enable passengers to enjoy seamless connections between Kenya Airways’ network and CemAir’s domestic and regional routes via Johannesburg and Cape Town. Through this collaboration, Kenya Airways customers will gain access to multiple destinations within South Africa, including Bloemfontein, Hoedspruit, and Kimberley, as well as regional destinations such as Maun, Victoria Falls, and Harare.

CemAir passengers will also benefit from expanded travel options, connecting to 15 destinations across Africa through Kenya Airways, including key cities such as Dar es Salaam, Addis Ababa, Entebbe, Accra, and Abidjan. The agreement allows for single-ticket bookings and coordinated connections, offering a more convenient and efficient travel experience.

Speaking on the partnership, Kenya Airways Acting Group Managing Director and CEO Captain George Kamal said the agreement reflects the airline’s commitment to strengthening connectivity across the continent.

CemAir CEO Miles van der Molen noted that the partnership builds on an existing relationship and creates new opportunities for growth and collaboration in Africa’s aviation sector.

Kenya Airways currently operates three daily flights to Johannesburg and nine weekly flights to Cape Town from Nairobi, positioning it strongly to support the expanded network.

The agreement forms part of Kenya Airways’ broader strategy to grow its footprint through partnerships, enhancing travel options while fostering stronger economic and cultural links across African markets.
