The Linda Mwananchi movement has declared full preparedness for its highly anticipated Sunday rally at Tononoka Grounds, assuring supporters of a peaceful and well-organised event.
Leaders and coordinators made the announcement during a site inspection of the venue, where they confirmed logistical arrangements were in place ahead of the March 29 gathering expected to draw crowds from across the Coast region.
Mombasa County coordinator Tobias Samba said the team had finalised plans and was ready to host attendees from Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi counties.
“We have come to inspect the grounds and confirm that everything is set. On Sunday, we will be here and we are ready,” he said.
Organisers described the rally as a major regional event that will bring together youth and political activists, adding that turnout is expected to be significant.
Rally coordinator Daniel Lucho said authorities had been notified in advance, expressing confidence that security agencies would facilitate a smooth event.
“We have followed all the required procedures and informed the relevant offices. We believe the meeting will be peaceful,” he said.
Movement officials also sought to reassure the public on safety, urging residents not to be intimidated and to attend in large numbers.
Principal member Civilizer Moses Aran said the group had received cooperation from security agencies, noting that police were aware of the rally and expected to provide protection.
“We have notified all the relevant security offices and they have assured us of their support. Everything is in place,” he said.
At the same time, the organisers reiterated their call for professionalism among security officers, urging them to safeguard participants and avoid interference.
The rally, which organisers say is youth-driven, is expected to feature leaders allied to Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino, with coordinators framing it as part of a broader push for generational leadership.
Mobilisation efforts have intensified in recent days, with organisers calling on Coast residents, including women and youth, to turn up in large numbers for the event.
