Nyali parliamentary aspirant Said Abdalla has called on residents to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, urging them to secure their voter cards ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a voter sensitisation drive at Frere Town Grounds, Abdalla emphasized that meaningful political change can only be achieved through the ballot, not through confrontation or propaganda. He encouraged residents to unite and actively participate in the electoral process by registering in large numbers.
“We will not correct things through propaganda or physical confrontation. The real change will come when people have voter cards,” he said.
Abdalla further urged the community to mobilise friends, family, and neighbours who are yet to register, noting that Nyali’s political strength depends on collective voter turnout.
He stressed that the current priority should be to ensure that all eligible residents are registered, particularly those who have not yet acquired their voter cards.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), over 1.37 million Kenyans have registered as voters since the launch of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise on March 30, 2026.
“The number of new registered voters since the beginning of ECVR on 30th March 2026 to 16th April 2026 is 1,370,930. Since the last update of 9th April 2026, the Commission has recorded an increase of 495,429 new voters,” the commission said.
Additionally, 92,602 voters have transferred their registration, while 1,969 others have updated their details.
In Mombasa County, 32,625 new voters have been registered, with 4,731 transfers recorded and 89 voters updating their particulars.
With just 11 days remaining before the exercise concludes, the IEBC has urged all eligible Kenyans who are yet to register to seize the opportunity to be part of a more inclusive and representative voter register.
