NAIROBI, Kenya—The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has scheduled the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election for July 16, 2026, setting in motion timelines for political parties and candidates.

In a Gazette Notice, the commission said parties intending to field candidates must submit their nominees and supporting signatures by May 4, while those conducting indirect nominations have until May 15.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho on March 29, 2026, while undergoing treatment in Nairobi.

IEBC said the official campaign period will run from May 25 to July 13.

The commission also directed that any public officer seeking to contest must resign within seven days of the declaration of the vacancy, in line with electoral laws.

Voter registration and revision in Ol Kalou Constituency will remain suspended until August 13, 2026.

Meanwhile, the commission confirmed it will conduct the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election in Narok County on May 14, following the death of MP Johana Ng’eno in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026.

On the same day, voters in Porro Ward in Samburu County and Endo Ward in Elgeyo/Marakwet County will elect new Members of County Assembly.
