The Mombasa County Government has launched an immediate countywide enforcement operation targeting ongoing developments that do not comply with approved building plans and statutory requirements.

In a public notice issued on Friday, County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Urban Planning, Housing and Serikali Mtaani Mohamed Hussein said the move follows a rise in construction projects that have ignored approval conditions despite repeated warnings from the county government.

The county said the non-compliant developments pose a threat to public safety, orderly urban growth and environmental protection, necessitating stricter enforcement measures.

"The County Government of Mombasa therefore commences an immediate countywide enforcement operation targeting all ongoing developments," the notice reads.

According to the notice, developers and property owners whose projects are found to be in breach of approval conditions or other legal requirements will face enforcement measures, including legal action.

The county has urged developers to verify that their projects have obtained all the necessary approvals and that construction is being undertaken in full compliance with the conditions attached to the approvals.

Officials said the exercise is intended to safeguard residents by promoting safe, orderly and sustainable urban development while ensuring all construction activities adhere to the law.
